Jasmine plants are very common in India. Because of its fragrance they can be found in every household. Jasmines are commonly cultivated for the purpose of fragrance of their flowers.  They are white or yellow in color, although in rare instances they can be slightly reddish.  The flowers are worn by women in their hair in southern and Southeast Asia. Jasmine flower tea is consumed in China which often has a base of green tea, white tea or oolong tea.
These flowers are used in worship and for hair ornaments. Jasmine is also cultivated commercially, for both the domestic and industrial uses, such as the perfume industry. It is used in rituals like marriages, religious ceremonies and festivals. In the chandan yatra of lord Jagannath, the deity is bathed with water flavoured with sandalwood and jasmine. Jasmine plant care may require a bit of effort, but the results are well worth the work. Not all jasmine plants are fragrant, but the most common and hardy do produce a sweet, carrying fragrance.
All jasmine plants prefer sun to light shade sites with well-draining and moderately fertile soil. When your plant arrives, put it in a cool room and set it in a window that receives bright light but little or no direct sun. Flowers will open and last longer with cooler home temperatures. Indoor jasmine plants have a long lifespan when cared for properly.
